HOW MUCH DO THE CAMERAS COST?
The cameras range in price from around £70 to £1500. The more expensive cameras provide fuller features, such as pan, tilt and sharper zoom. Details of all our cameras can be found on our product review page.
HOW DOES THE CHANNEL MAKE MONEY?
The subscriber numbers for Solent Ships have enabled the channel to be monetised and revenue is earned from YouTube advertising, Patreon and PayPal donations. All revenue is re-invested in running the channel and the purchase of new cameras and equipment.

WHAT BREED IS RUSTY?
Rusty is a Poochon, 3/4 Red Toy Poodle, 1/4 Bichon Frise.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO SET UP THE CHANNEL?
I purchased a new drone and wasn't able to fly it, as the weather was so poor. I got up early one morning before work, and went to Mayflower Park to test the new drone. It was during this first flight that I noticed a cruise ship coming in and took some photographs and video. This combined an interest in photography and ships. The channel had been running a while before lockdown started, and during lockdown I had an opportunity to make more films and viewers seemed to like them. This inspired me to create more content.
DO YOU HAVE A DRONE LICENCE?
Yes. We are licensed by the CAA for aerial operations.
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ON THE RADIO?
Yes. Just a couple of voice overs for radio advertisements.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE CRUISE SHIP OR LINE?
All ships great and small interest me. Particularly the more peculiar variety that we get here in the Port of Southampton.
DO YOU OWN A BOAT?
Not yet, Shipmate! One can dream...
